"When painting I try to avoid literalism and choose understatement. I paint suggestions of landscapes, or events.  Unreal images of the sky. Afterimages of places and indelible memories. Preceding 'something' signs, or traces left 'after'. I reject the presence of real representation and renounce figuration, but even so, I do not situate my paintings in the realm of abstraction. In my search for harmony, I narrow down the colour range of a painting, or a whole series of works. I suggest the subject of a painting by means of a title: but it is always only a hint for a possible multiplicity of interpretations.
In parallel with the paintings, small works on cardboard are created in my home studio. These are 'little pictures' that are particularly close to me.  In them I combine elements of collage and techniques in oil, acrylic and crayon. I experiment with my own techniques. In these small works, I often do not abandon figuration. Fragments of landscape and figures appear in them. I choose some of these small works on cardboard as a starting point to create a large painting, they become an integral part of it glued to the canvas."
